Seahawks lose Zach Charbonnet for at least first 4 games

The Seattle Seahawks are putting the finishing touches on their 2026 roster, hoping it leads them to another Super Bowl title. But when it comes to the running back position, Seattle will be shorthanded to  open up the year.

The Seahawks have placed Zach Charbonnet on the Physically Unable to Perform list, via Adam Schefter of ESPN. He will now be forced to miss at least the first four games of the season.

Charbonnet is working his way back from a torn ACL. Rather than push it, Seattle decided to be cautious and have their running back further rehab the injury. They’ll be paying close attention to Charbonnet and hope he’ll be ready to go once those four weeks are up. But the most important thing is the running back being fully healthy.

In his absence, Jadarian Price and George Holani should get plenty of run. Holani took on a greater role when Charbonnet went down while Price was Seattle’s first-round pick in 2026. The Seahawks are counting on both to lead their rushing attack.

Once Charbonnet returns, he should reclaim a key place in the offense. He has 1,761 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns during his three years with the team. During the 2025 season, the running back turned 184 carries into 730 yards and 12 touchdowns.

After seeing Kenneth Walker leave in free agency, the Seahawks’ ground game is going to look much different in 2026. For at least four weeks, their offense won’t include Charbonnet either. Once he is past his injury though, Seattle is hoping to unleash a different rushing dynamic on the NFL.
