Ismaila Sarr desperate for Liverpool move as Crystal Palace forward takes drastic action

Ismaila Sarr is pushing Crystal Palace to sell him to Liverpool, talkSPORT understands.

The Senegal forward is Liverpool’s preferred option to replace Cody Gakpo, who is being targeted by Manchester City.

The Reds had sounded out Palace over a move for the 28-year-old, albeit without lodging an official bid.

However, it is understood the Eagles indicated they were not willing to entertain a sale.

Sarr deletes all trace of Palace

This comes after Sarr removed all pictures of him representing Palace from his Instagram account on Sunday.

At the time of writing, there is only one post on the player’s account, which sees him representing Senegal at the World Cup during the summer.

Sarr, who has three years left on his Palace contract, has already been the subject of interest from elsewhere this summer, with Palace rejecting a bid from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The 28-year-old has not been involved in either of Palace’s Premier League matches this season.

Palace boss Pierre Sage said Sarr would be available for the opening weekend defeat at Everton.

However, Sage later revealed Sarr had been ruled out due to a groin issue and reiterated he hoped to keep the winger at the club.

When asked if he expected Sarr to stay at the club ahead of Palace’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Friday night, Sarr said: “For the moment, yes, because when you have three years on the contract, it is not easy to leave.

“I understand that for everybody to have this kind of contact [from Liverpool] is difficult, because you hesitate a lot. But for the moment, he is with us. He is under contract.

“He is injured and maybe you can make a link between his injury and the situation. But for me, he is honest and I have no problem with that. We just want him on the pitch as quickly as possible.”

Sarr has spent the last two seasons with Palace having joined in the summer of 2024 from Marseille.

He has gone on to score 33 goals and contribute ten assists for the Eagles across 92 appearances across all competitions.

In that period, Sarr has helped the club win the FA Cup and the Conference League.

Liverpool’s approach for Sarr comes after their failed pursuit of Yankuba Minteh, with Brighton setting an £80million asking price.

The Seagulls had already knocked back two bids from Liverpool for Minteh, with the latest being £60m.

Liverpool are not expected to return for a third bid unless Brighton’s valuation drops.

Liverpool’s interest in Sarr comes as they remain active in the market for wide attackers.

Paris Saint Germain’s Bradley Barcola is closing in on a move to Anfield, however with the two clubs finally agreeing a fee after protracted talks across the summer.
