Scottie Scheffler passes Tiger Woods’ PGA Tour record after FedEx Cup win

If there was ever any doubt that Scottie Scheffler was the No. 1 player in the world, it has been removed after he won the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup for the second time in the last three years.

Scheffler played error-free golf at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, beating runner-up Viktor Hovland by three strokes.
Scheffler was remarkably consistent in the event following his opening rounds of 65 and 67 with back-to-back scores of 66 on moving day and in the final round.

There were times during the season that Scheffler was not at his best, and after winning the opening event he played this season, he didn’t win another until the FedEx Cup playoffs started. He won two of the final three tournaments.

Scheffler earned $10 million with the win in the Tour Championship, and that allowed him to pass Tiger Woods for the most money won in tour events. Scheffler has won $130.4 million throughout his career, and that is $9 million more than Woods has won on the golf course in official events.

Woods offered his congratulations to Scheffler for his dynamic play throughout the season. “Three wins, five runner-ups and finishing the season No. 1. Those are some numbers to be proud of. Incredible consistency all season long. Congrats on a historic season, Scottie,” Woods posted on X.

Scheffler explained that he has been able to maintain consistency by taking each round of golf he plays on the PGA Tour as a privilege.

“Overall, I just continued to battle, day in and day out,” Scheffler said. “It’s something that I’m very proud of. It’s a gift to be out here on tour. Each and every day, I’m going to try to give it my best.”
