Packers’ Matt LaFleur playfully scolds MarShawn Lloyd after ambitious TD celebration

The Green Bay Packers are just over a month away from kicking off the upcoming 2026 NFL season with a game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers are currently participating in training camp, where the team is hard at work as the preseason quickly approaches.

The Packers will look to rely more often on running back MarShawn Lloyd this season, and on Thursday, he produced an epic moment at the team’s practice session.

“MarShawn Lloyd catches a wide open slip check from Jordan Love for 5-yard TD on second-and-goal. Does a back flip in end zone to celebrate. I’ll take that as he’s feeling pretty good,” reported Ryan Wood of USA Today on X, formerly Twitter.

However, one person not thrilled with Lloyd’s choice of celebration was Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.

“Matt LaFleur just walked up to MarShawn Lloyd coming off the field, and let’s just say the message had something to do with no more backflips,” reported Wood.

Lloyd has dealt with various injuries so far during his Packers tenure after being selected in 2024 out of USC, so it’s understandable that the coaching staff would want him to be extra cautious in preventing any unnecessary injuries, especially before the season even begins.

This year, the Packers are hoping to bounce back after their 2025 season fell off the rails due to both injuries and overall regression in play, ultimately crashing and burning with a collapse in the Wild Card round against the divisional rival Chicago Bears on the road.

The Packers are set to kick off their new season on September 13 with a divisional road game against the Vikings.
