Dustin May to make Brewers debut after Cardinals trade

With the Milwaukee Brewers adding pitching before the trade deadline last Monday, besides adding arms to the bullpen, the team also brought in Dustin May from the St. Louis Cardinals. As the Brewers add May to the starting rotation, he is set to make his debut with the team against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fans will get to watch him make his debut for Milwaukee at home when the team faces the Pirates on Thursday afternoon, as he enters the game recording a 4.38 ERA to go along with 106 strikeouts and a 5-7 record with the Cardinals this season. Being traded within the NL Central, May spoke about how “stoked” he was to hear he’d been going to the Brewers.

“I mean, being able to come to a team that’s leading the division by a lot, a great ballclub [with] a really good chance to go to the playoffs and make a run, I’m very thrilled to be a part of it,” May said, via MLB.com.

Dustin May bringing veteran presence to the Brewers

With the 28-year-old about to start a new chapter in his MLB career with the Brewers, he does bring some veteran presence to the staff, having five years’ worth more of experience than anybody in the rotation, featuring Jacob Misiorowski.

“I’m a completely open book,” May said. “I’ve been through a lot of the highs and definitely been through some of the lows. I feel like I have a very good mix of how the game can go very well, very fast, and can also go very bad, very fast.”

“I would like to say you can talk to really anybody in my past that I’ve conveyed that to, that I’m a complete open book and you can ask me any question,” May continued. “I’m going to do my best to give my best outlook. They’re getting a guy with a lot of fight. I definitely show a lot of emotion on the mound.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen how May does in his first start with his new team.
