Nuggets news: Aaron Gordon reveals truth behind limping scare right before playoffs
Relief washed over the Denver Nuggets locker room Monday when Aaron Gordon set the record straight on a frightening limp that had fans holding their breath just days before the postseason begins.
Gordon, who has had a lot of hamstring and calf injuries this season, told the media that he is doing well and that he is “feeling good.” Those three words meant a lot to the Nuggets, who have had their versatile forward miss 44 games this year alone.

The scare started during Denver’s last game against the San Antonio Spurs, when sharp-eyed fans saw Gordon favoring his right leg after a mid-range jumper late in the game. People on social media were worried right away because this is a man who has already missed a lot of games this season because of tightness in his left calf and right hamstring. The Nuggets can’t afford to lose another player.

But Gordon quickly and easily cleared things up. The Denver Nuggets say that the forward said that the limp was caused by knee-to-knee contact during the Spurs game and not by a muscle problem, a hamstring re-aggravation, or the calf that had kept him out of action just a few days before. It was an injury from a collision that hurts at the time but goes away quickly.
With a 51–28 record, Denver is in third place in the Western Conference and headed to the playoffs. They really need a healthy Gordon as they get ready for the playoffs. As a safety measure, head coach David Adelman had already limited Gordon’s playing time. This shows how carefully the team is managing his workload as the season comes to an end.
When healthy this season, Gordon has made a big difference. He averages 16.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 50.0% from the field and 39.4% from three. He is one of the most important pieces in Denver’s championship puzzle because he can play both ways with Nikola Jokic.
With the playoffs approaching, the Nuggets finally have the news they needed, their do-it-all forward is healthy, ready, and locked in.
