Nikola Jokic shares honest reaction to Nuggets’ Peyton Watson trade
Nikola Jokic has been the best player in the NBA for the last half-decade. During this stretch with the Denver Nuggets, in which he has won a championship and earned three MVP trophies, the Serbian center has always maintained a calm demeanor and hasn’t gotten too involved in basketball politics.
Fans have often joked that Jokic doesn’t even love basketball, and while that couldn’t be further from the truth, the center has always let his team build the roster around him without getting too involved. Denver just traded one of The Joker’s best teammates, Peyton Watson, in a deal that netted the Nuggets a 3031 first-round pick and a 2032 second-rounder, but no players in return.
Jokic is currently playing international ball for Team Serbia, and he was asked his thoughts on the Watson deal. Miroslav Cuk translated the MVP’s thoughts from Serbian to English.
“I’m happy for Peyton; he deserved it. We will miss his energy and skill. I don’t think about the season yet, we have to play this, but it’s going to be okay.”
“Nikola, Peyton Watson got traded, what is your reaction and expectations for the next season?”

As per usual, Jokic didn’t show too much reaction to the Nuggets’ news, and he is instead focused on his task at hand. Denver certainly has an uphill battle after losing in the first round and being forced to trade one of their best players, but with the three-time MVP on their roster, they will likely be just fine.
