Nuggets’ Jamal Murray updates living situation 4 years after humble admission

Jamal Murray has been one of the strongest pillars for the Denver Nuggets over the year. Despite a first-round exit against the Minnesota Timberwolves during this past NBA season, Murray stands strong and grounded.

However, very few know how he keeps himself in check. While otherwise on a four-year, $208 million max contract extension with the Nuggets, the Canadian point guard still keeps himself detached from all the luxuries around.

During his appearance on the All The Smoke podcast in 2022, he revealed that he sleeps on an air mattress. But Murray recently shared that his sleeping setup has been updated.

“This clip was 4 years ago.. parents renovated and added a bed.. but still challenge myself in other ways. God bless!” Murray wrote on his X, formerly Twitter, account quoting the four-year-old video.

“I don’t really look at money like that. I’m a pretty humble guy. When I go home, I actually sleep on an air mattress to keep my mental, to know where I’m coming from. I got a little brother that’s watching me as well. I don’t want him to see that you can get whatever you want, but you don’t take it because of why. There are certain things you have to learn and go through, and I’m trying to teach him at the same time, teach myself, that money isn’t everything. If I didn’t have any of it, I’d still be the same person I am today,” Murray had said in the resurfaced video.

Jamal Murray’s early years still paying dividends

Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Murray had a humble beginning. He initially had struggles, but his motivation and dedication to basketball proved instrumental in his success.

But as he mentioned, he leads by example for his younger brother, Lamar Murray. Right through his childhood, his father, Roger Murray, trained and prepared him mentally as well as physically for the pro league.

He has spent almost a decade in the NBA and is still going strong for the last nine seasons. An all-time Nugget, Murray is averaging 18.9 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in the 611 regular-season games he has played for the franchise so far.

However, his pairing with franchise superstar Nikola Jokic has been phenomenal. The Joker even said that he would love to spend his whole NBA career alongside Murray.

“I would love it. It’s so good when you know who you’re playing with. He cannot really surprise me. And I know what he can do…I don’t want to change him,” Jokic said earlier this year via Brendan Vogt.

Who would not love to play with someone who always tries to go the extra mile and stand out?
