Robert Saleh hits Cam Ward-led offense with harsh reality after Seahawks preseason game

The Tennessee Titans improved to 2-0 on the preseason on Sunday night. Tennessee defeated Seattle 19-16, getting a narrow win against the reigning Super Bowl champions. The Titans did not play up to their own standard, and their head coach is not going to let that slide.

Titans head coach Robert Saleh did not hold back when talking about Cam Ward and the offense after the game.

“I thought the first drive was good, we went out there and got some points,” Saleh told reporters on Sunday. “Thought Cam, again, was good with the ball, good decision-making. We just couldn’t connect on a couple of deep throws, but, overall, it’s got to be better. I’m not trying to sugarcoat it. It does got to be better, but at the same time, there’s always going to be things that we can take from.”

Ward led Tennessee’s offense for three series, resulting in only three points. The second-year quarterback finished the game 8-of-12 for 69 passing yards. His stats would have looked a lot better if he had hit a few deep shots as Saleh noted.

Ward was under no illusions about his performance, giving himself an honest review after the game.

“Better for sure, still a lot of little things we got to get better on from myself, from the offense,” Ward told Megan Olivi. “But we trending in the right direction. It’s been a great training camp. Going against the Superbowl champs. They’re a very good team.”

Tennessee will be counting on Ward and the offense to take a big step forward in 2026. Especially after adding playmakers like Carnell Tate and Wan’Dale Robinson this offseason.

It will be interesting to see if Tennessee gives their starting offense more opportunities during their final preseason game. That could reveal how prepared the unit is ahead of the regular season.

Next up for the Titans is their preseason finale against the Bears on August 29th.
