Lakers’ Austin Reaves gives honest answer to kids loving Luka Doncic more than him

The Los Angeles Lakers’ short and adventurous minicamp in Slovenia has finally come to an end. And before heading back to LA, Luka Doncic made sure his NBA teammates visited the major places in his country. During the last day of the trip, the Lakers superstar guard, along with the rest of the players, paid a visit to a pediatric clinic in Ljubljana.

As reported by local news outlet 24ur, Doncic and co. interacted with children, took photos, and also gave autographs to them. Interestingly, while they were heading back for their scheduled departure, a media person asked Austin Reave about his interaction with the kids in the hospital.

“They love Luka!” he said. However, the reporter asked a follow-up question if the kids loved Reaves. “They love Luka more, as they should. Luka is a hero!” he replied with a smile.

However, their visit to the clinic marked the final chapter of their journey to Slovenia. The Lakers joined Doncic in his homeland to build team chemistry ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season. With LeBron James now with the Philadelphia 76ers, it is now on Doncic to lead the team and bond with the players.

The six-time NBA All-Star had an interesting itinerary planned for his NBA teammates. The festivities kicked off with ‘First Supper,’ where the Lakers enjoyed a team dinner. Then the group went kayaking, enjoyed cycling on the streets, and did other activities.

Additionally, Doncic also took his teammates to visit his childhood court in Ljubljana, where he used to play during his early days. It was the same court he used to practice before becoming a household name.

That said, heading back to Los Angeles, the Lakers will play the Sacramento Kings in their first preseason game in the first week of October.
