Mets rumors: Ken Rosenthal outlines trade deadline plans after Carlos Mendoza firing
With the New York Mets firing manager Carlos Mendoza amidst a disappointing season for the team, there are fans wondering what the next moves will be for the ball club. As rumors will surround the Mets regarding who the team will target for the next manager, there are also questions as to who they will trade, as this MLB insider gives insight.
Ken Rosenthal would appear on “Foul Territory” after the news on Mendoza and spoke about how they are in a position to sell pieces, especially if the team doesn’t get better after Mendoza’s departure. He would mention pitchers Freddy Peralta, Brooks Raley, and A.J. Minter.
“If they don’t play better, even if they play a little bit better, but it’s still not good enough, they’re going to have to make some trades. The obvious guys are Freddy Peralta, a potential free agent, Brooks Raley, and AJ Minter, two left-handed relievers, both potential free agents,” Rosenthal said.
With Carlos Mendoza out in Queens, it appears several movable players could be next.

Ken Rosenthal speaks on the chances of the Mets trading Luke Weaver
There is another big Mets target that the team could trade for, but Rosenthal questions if the team would want to deal away pitcher Luke Weaver, who has been a bright spot this season.
“If you want to get aggressive with Luke Weaver, who has another year left, you could do that; he’s been great,” Rosenthal said. “But I would think they intend to compete next year, and you’d probably want Luke Weaver on your team next year. It definitely appears to be heading that way, that they are going to be sellers. They don’t have a whole lot to sell, to be perfectly honest. I just listed the main guys. Peralta has been a huge disappointment, and lefty relievers, yes, they’re incredibly valuable at the deadline, but they only bring so much.”
So far this season with New York, Weaver has recorded a 2.12 ERA to go along with 37 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched. At any rate, it remains to be seen what the Mets will do after the firing of Mendoza.
