Mets’ Kodai Senga immediately fails big test by allowing another White Sox walk-off HR

With the New York Mets losing to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, 2-1, it came off a walk-off home run, let go by pitcher Kodai Senga, as it’s the second walk-off victory for the team in the series. While the Mets pitcher Senga was tested by the team, the result was a failure with the result as it’s been a disappointing season for the 33-year-old.

In the bottom of the ninth inning with one out and on a 3-1 pitch, Tristan Peters would crush a 96-mile-per-hour pitch that went into deep center field. It would be the second straight game that Senga was used in a relief role.

“The Mets tested Kodai Senga this afternoon, pitching him on back-to-back days — as closers do — for the first time in his career. The result was a walk-off homer,” DiComo wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The Mets fall in another walk-off victory for the White Sox

Senga fell prey to the explosiveness of the White Sox this season, as the walk-off home run from Peters marks the 11th walk-off victory of the season for the ball club and the fifth coming off a home run. As mentioned, Chicago also had a walk-off victory in the first game of the series against the Mets, as that was credited to a Jake Rogers home run.

“Just call them the Walk-Off White Sox. Tristan Peters with a game-winning HR in the 9th! 11th walk-off of the season. Fifth on a home run—most in majors,” Chuck Garfien wrote.

In fact, there should not be too much surprise that Peters was the one to initiate the walk-off, as he had done it two times prior.

“I’m going to get this one right: 11th walk-off by 8 players. Third for Tristan Peters. White Sox win, 2-1, and win the weekend series.” Scott Merkin wrote.

At any rate, Senga looks to bounce back for New York in his next appearance.
