Laura Woods back on talkSPORT with Ally McCoist three years after emotional goodbye

Laura Woods is back on the talkSPORT Breakfast show… for one morning only.

Three years since her teary goodbye to the millions of listeners, the former host of the morning show is reuniting with co-host Ally McCoist on Friday morning (29 May), live from Budapest ahead of the Champions League final.

Woodsy’s beloved Arsenal are playing in the city against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday night where both her and Ally are part of the TNT coverage.

Joining talkSPORT in 2017, she began by reviewing newspapers on the Sports Breakfast show with Alan Brazil in the 6am to 10am slot, she eventually hosted the show in her own right, sharing duties with the iconic Mr Brazil.

Since leaving, Woodsy has worked for TNT on their Champions League coverage where her greatest night could still be to come.

When Arsenal won the league, she reminded the talkSPORT listeners who mocked her and the club, of all the things they had said in jest, particularly West Ham and Tottenahm supporters.

Posting a host of pictures of her years supporting the north London side, she wrote on social media: “It’s always been Arsenal.”

Now she could be celebrating the league and European double in Budapest.

Who will win the Champions League final?

Arsenal are the only team unbeaten in this season’s competition, with 11 wins and three draws.

Their only period trailing in a match so far came during the last-16 first leg at Bayer Leverkusen before drawing 1-1.

And despite the 44 goals scored by PSG – Champions League winners last season – Arsenal have the best defensive record in the competition this season. They have conceded six times in 14 games and have yet to concede from open play in the knockout stage.

Laura's goodbye message

As her time at talkSPORT came to an end, this is what Laura told the listeners...

“You lot, our listeners, have given me so much comfort and guided me through some of my toughest moments, without even realising it,” Laura said. “So I wanted to thank you personally for that. I will miss it dearly. Even the Spurs fans!

“For what feels like a lifetime I’ve been a listener of talkSPORT. For the last six years it’s been my home, where we get to spend our mornings talking about sport. There’s nothing better. I know I will never find a job like this. It’s unique.

“Three years as the host of this amazing breakfast show, three bits of silverware for the trophy cabinet and record listening figures. I’m very proud of what we achieved here. One thing’s for sure: I will always be part of this family at talkSPORT.”

PSG, meanwhile, are aiming to become just the second side since the Champions League was re-branded from the European Cup in 1992 to successfully defend the trophy. Real Madrid managed it when they won three on the bounce between 2016 and 2018.

What time is the Champions League final?

The match – the 63rd of the season for Arsenal – begins at 5pm (BST) and as well as TNT, the match is also on talkSPORT.

talkSPORT will have live coverage of the match, with Adrian Durham presenting and commentary from Jim Proudfoot and Stuart Pearce.

talkSPORT.com will also be running a dedicated live blog of the action.
