Is Thunder’s Ajay Mitchell returning from calf injury for closeout Game 6 vs. Spurs
The Oklahoma City Thunder will go for the kill against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals at Frost Bank Center on Thursday.
The Thunder are now just a win away from returning to the NBA Finals after outclassing the Spurs in Game 5 for a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. Oklahoma City is looking to become just the eighth team in league history to capture back-to-back titles.
As they have done throughout the nip-and-tuck matchup, Alex Caruso and Jared McCain stepped up in Game 5, filling in for Ajay Mitchell, who was still sidelined by a calf injury.
With the Thunder looking to close out the Spurs, will Mitchell suit up in Game 6?

Unfortunately for the defending champions, Mitchell was still listed as out in the NBA’s injury report.
He has not seen action since suffering the calf injury in Game 3 against San Antonio. It was a tough setback, especially since he was coming off a terrific run in their sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round.
The 23-year-old guard has tallied only 5.3 points on 38.9% shooting in 26.3 minutes against the Spurs.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst sounded the alarm after the Thunder were routed in Game 4, claiming that the absences of Mitchell and Jalen Williams, who is still nursing a hamstring injury, might be too much to overcome.
Well, judging by Oklahoma City’s performance in Game 5, Windhorst was off the mark.
Thunder injury report
Jalen Williams – Questionable (left hamstring strain)
Ajay Mitchell – Out (right soleus strain)
Thomas Sorber – Out (right ACL recovery)
Spurs injury report
None
