Mark Walter’s company releases defiant statement on potential Dodgers sale

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been the subject of some sale speculation in recent weeks amid the FBI’s probe into team owner Mark Walter’s business dealings. Walter recently gave the sports world a jolt when he sold the Los Angeles Lakers to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger less than one year after purchasing them from the Buss family.

Recently, Walter’s company, TWG Global, has released a statement hitting back at the media circus surrounding his endeavors in the sports world.

“Over the past several weeks, multipronged attacks against TWG have been advanced by unnamed sources with self-serving interests that have been reported in the media,” read the statement in part, per Jack Harris of the New York Post.

About the Dodgers, the statement read, “To be clear, the team is not being sold and no sale process has been initiated.”

The statement also addressed Walter’s line of thinking as it pertained to the shocking sale of the Lakers.

“Mr. Walter and his partners continuously get interest from prospective buyers and co-investors in their sports assets and, as responsible owners and investors, they consider all legitimate offers when they are received,” the statement said.

The Dodgers are currently looking to add a third straight World Series trophy to their collection this season, with the MLB playoffs just over a month away. The statement should help at least temporarily halt some of the negative press and rumors surrounding the team at the most important part of the season.

In any case, the Dodgers are set to continue their regular season on Wednesday with a road game against the Atlanta Braves.
