‘Do they know?’ – Nelly Korda caught up in amusing moment before Solheim Cup

Nelly Korda appeared to go unrecognised as Team USA took in the sights of Amsterdam ahead of the Solheim Cup.

The world No.1 joined her team-mates in the Dutch capital after they arrived in the Netherlands to face Team Europe.

This year’s edition of the Solheim Cup gets underway at Bernardus Golf on Friday.

Ahead of the action, the stars of Team USA walked through Amsterdam before enjoying a boat trip along the canal.

Korda goes under the radar

However, Korda’s status as a four-time major winner was not enough for one couple to recognise her.

In a video shared to social media by the LPGA, she can be seen stopping to take a picture of a couple on a bridge.

The pair seemingly did not ask to have a picture with the Olympic gold medallist, though.

Golf journalist Claire Rogers was amongst those to react to the video as it quickly went viral on social media.

Reacting on X, she wrote: “I can’t help but wonder if that couple knew that they asked the No.1 golfer in the world to take their photo.”

Korda regained her place at the top of the world rankings back in April after winning her second Chevron Championship.

The victory also marked her third major win, followed by a fourth at the US Women’s Open two months later.

She now heads into a fifth Solheim Cup appearance with Team USA.

The defending champions recaptured the trophy on home soil in Virginia two years ago.

They secured a 15½ – 12½ triumph over Europe, their first win in the event since 2017.

Meanwhile, it has been 11 years since an American team won the Solheim Cup on European soil.

On that occasion in 2015, Team USA claimed a narrow 14½ – 13½ victory in Germany.

This year’s event marks the 20th edition of the Solheim Cup, with the action getting underway on Friday.

After two days of foursomes and fourballs, the tournament will conclude on Sunday with the singles matches.

Across her four previous Solheim Cup appearances, Korda has won 10 out of 16 matches.

However, she was on the end of an emphatic 6 & 4 defeat to Charley Hull in the singles back in 2024.
