The Royal Sussex Regiment EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes looks a fascinating little race with just five runners, fronted by the Ralph Beckett-trained Spirit Tango.

She won at the second time of asking last time out winning by a comfortable margin at Kempton, suggesting 7f is the right next step, while subsequent form from those in that race also helps that case.

China In Your Hand however, looks a decent shot as the highest price of the main front three in the betting.

She’s had three runs over 7f already and won in Newmarket in July before being placed into a Group 3, where she ran too freely.

She beat Flooding back in July who went on to win at Salisbury, I wouldn’t want to discount her bouncing back after a tough outing in August.

U S S Charleston

Tipped Spring Bloom before and though he’s still in solid form, placing well, he’s nine-years-old and hasn’t been seen at 5f for a little while so there’s a bit of a question mark, especially about his form when not at his favourite track, Newmarket.

In fact, there are drawbacks to a few of these at the front of the market prompting solid cases for outsiders.

I’d imagine the ground is also going to get softer as the rain persists this late morning.

Placed third and fourth in his last two runs but was 2nd of 18 here in July behind the impressive Naana’s Shadow and at 50/1 that day the 6/1 price in this wide open field looks incredible value.

Has won on soft before, when just 6lb lighter and ought to kick on at some point very soon.

Manxman

Could have done much better in three of his last four runs, but went well over course and distance in September last year, and his latest run came after a long break of nearly a year so this is the time to be backing him especially in this race against these seemingly easier rivals.
