Fans fear Brock Purdy might ‘die’ after Myles Garrett flattens ex-rugby coach with scary new tackling technique
Myles Garrett’s latest training video has caused fans to worry about the safety of Brock Purdy on Thursday.
The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams kick off their respective campaigns in Melbourne, Australia at the iconic MCG on Thursday.
The Rams are early Super Bowl favorites, thanks to the offseason acquisition of Garrett through a trade with the Cleveland Browns.
The trade also led to Aaron Donald coming out of retirement, giving Los Angeles one of the most formidable defenses in recent memory.
Fans claim Brock Purdy is in trouble after scary training footage
Garrett broke the single-season sack record for the Browns in 2025, while also taking home his second Defensive Player of the Year award.
During his latest training session, Garrett brought in the help of an Australian high-performance coach Bill Coffey.

Coffey played rugby for Newcastle, New South Wales, and he has worked with multiple NFL players, including Micah McFadden.
Coach Coffey could be seen getting winded after teaching Garrett how to properly step into tackles and receiving a few padded tackles from him.
The viral footage, which has now amassed over 17 million views on X, was captioned: “There’s a dude currently teaching Myles Garrett how to hit even harder and I think he should be arrested for doing so.”
It’s safe to say that NFL fans feel the same way, with some going as far as predicting a tough outcome for 49ers QB Purdy.
“Brock Purdy might actually die on the field on Thursday, what am I looking at,” one concerned fan said.
“They’re actually training Myles Garrett to become even more terrifying, good luck Brock, hope you make it through,” a second said.
“I hope Brock Purdy makes it out of Melbourne injury free, that’s the last thing we need,” a third scared 49ers fan said.
“If I was Brock Purdy, I would be shaking in my cleats, this dude is scary af,” a fourth commented.
“Good luck Purdy, imagine if Donald plays too, I would just give up and walk off the field,” a fifth concluded.
Donald gives cryptic answer to question over Week 1 availability
While the 49ers have been in Australia since last week, the Rams will be making the 16-hour flight on Tuesday, 24 hours before the game.
After coming out of retirement, there were questions over whether Donald would be ready enough to suit up for the season opener.
The Rams will want Donald on the field as soon as possible, but the veteran gave a cryptic answer to whether he would play or not.
“Taking it day by day. Come up with a game plan to see what’s going on,” Donald told reporters Monday.
“Feeling good, feeling really good. Come up with a game plan and see.
“Things are clicking faster than I thought it would be. Even my first day out there, with 11-on-11, things would be a little all over the place. Settled in.
“A couple of plays a little rusty. It ain’t where I want it to be, but it’s pretty damn good if you ask me.
“To not play football in two years, to be moving how I’m moving, it’s really no dropoff. It’s not where I want to be.
“I can see it. I know there are things I want to clean up, that I’m going to clean up. The more reps I do, the more I play, it’ll get there.”
