Could Arch Manning turn down 2027 NFL Draft for Longhorns return? Todd McShay thinks so

Texas football star Arch Manning is a Heisman Trophy favorite, a national championship contender, and the potential No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. However, Longhorn fans may not have to worry about losing the famous quarterback so soon. Heading into his redshirt junior season, Manning still has eligibility beyond this year, and The Ringer NFL draft guru Todd McShay thinks it’s a real possibility that the Longhorns signal-caller returns to Austin in 2027.

“With the support that he has around him at Texas – his family, etc. – this guy, if he puts it together this year, or maybe next year. No one’s talking about that,” McShay told Barstool Sports’ Brandon Walker on his college football show. “I spent a lot of time with Archie, Cooper. Spent time down in Thibodaux, Louisiana, talking to the Manning family. Like, the 2027 NFL Draft is not, by any stretch, a guarantee that Arch is going to be in it. So that’ll be an interesting storyline.”

It shouldn’t be a shock if Arch Manning goes the full five years with the Texas football program. His uncle, Peyton Manning, played all four years at Tennessee. However, his other uncle, Eli Manning, did leave Ole Miss after his redshirt junior season because he was slotted to be the top overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.

The one thing neither Peyton nor Eli had was NIL money. While they were both well off thanks to their NFL QB dad, Archie Manning, they needed that first pro contract to make real money on their own. Their nephew Arch has reportedly made well over $10 million during his time in the Texas Longhorns football program.
