Christian Walker’s NSFW response to Astros’ brutal homestand

As the Houston Astros concluded the series against the Athletics, losing in the final game on Sunday, 7-6, it marked the sixth defeat in the nine games this past homestand. While the Astros dropped two of the three contests to the Athletics, first baseman Christian Walker would speak from the heart about his reaction to the team’s slump.

There is little to no room for error for Houston, as the loss drops them to 65-66, and while the team still holds first place in the AL West, the Texas Rangers hold the same record. With every game having postseason implications for the rest of the season, it makes any loss frustrating, though Walker’s NSFW reaction puts the defeats into perspective, especially when the games are on their home field.

“This homestand doesn’t feel like ‘Oh man, we’re not good enough to win these games.’ It’s like, f***, we let some games slip away from us. We’re a better team than this. We should expect more out of ourselves,” Walker said, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

To make the defeats even more frustrating, the past two losses against the Athletics came within one run. So far this season, Walker has recorded a .233 batting average to go along with 23 home runs and 72 RBIs, as he looks to help the Astros get back to their winning ways.

At any rate, Houston looks to turn around their chances with the start of the next series against the New York Yankees, which starts on Tuesday.
