Paige Bueckers drops 6-word truth bomb after dominating Storm

The Dallas Wings had been playing inconsistent basketball since the All-Star break, but they appeared to possibly get things back on track after two straight wins, the latter being a dominant, 92-70 victory against the Seattle Storm. Prior to Sunday’s game, the Wings were coming off a stretch in which they went 3-7, including a three-game losing streak, and star guard Paige Bueckers made it clear that she was done with that, as per WNBA reporter Christan Braswell.

“Losing sucks,” the All-Star guard stated after the game. “I friggin’ hate losing.”

Paige Bueckers certainly did her part to ensure that the Wings got the win against the Storm, finishing with a game-high 32 points to go along with four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 26 minutes of play. She shot 12-of-16 (75 percent) from the field, and a perfect 6-of-6 and 2-of-2 from the 3-point line and free-throw line, respectively.

With the win, the Wings improved to 22-16 on the season, and increased their lead over the Portland Fire for the eighth and final playoff spot to six games. They also pulled to an essential tie with the Washington Mystics for the No. 7 seed.

While the playoff standings have not yet been mathematically determined, realistically, it’s highly unlikely the teams still alive and trailing the Wings, catch up to them in the standings. That will set the stage for Bueckers’ first career playoff appearance.

The former UConn star was selected to her second consecutive All-Star appearance this season, while appearing in 35 games at a little over 33 minutes per game. She’s been averaging 20.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists with splits of 49.9 percent shooting from the field, 37.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 86.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
