Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes brutally trolls Travis Kelce with first-pitch debacle after Guardians ownership purchase

Some may have forgotten Travis Kelce’s disastrous first pitch before he joined the Cleveland Guardians’ ownership group as a minority investor, but his Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won’t let him forget.

After news broke that the tight end was joining the Guardians’ ownership group, Mahomes congratulated him by posting his first-pitch disaster from 2023 on X, formerly Twitter.

The first pitch video is over three years old, but Mahomes hasn’t forgotten about it. Hopefully, Kelce is able to redeem himself whenever he does it again.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce joined his hometown Cleveland Guardians’ ownership group

It was announced on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, that Kelce was becoming a minority investor of the Guardians. Similarly, Mahomes owns a minority share of the Kansas City Royals.

Of course, Kelce grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, so the Guardians have been his favorite MLB team since he was a child. This makes the announcement a really cool full-circle moment.

Kelce continues to add to his growing resume as his football career winds down. He ultimately decided to return to the Chiefs for a 14th season after contemplating retirement again after the 2025 season.

The tight end agreed to terms with the team on Mar. 9, 2026, signing a one-year deal. Shortly after, the contract was extended to a three-year deal worth $54.7 million.

In 2025, Kelce caught 76 passes for 851 yards and five touchdowns. The Chiefs’ season ended in disappointment, though, as they finished with a 6-11 record, missing the playoffs for the first time in the Mahomes era.

With Kelce coming back and Mahomes returning from his torn ACL injury, the Chiefs are hoping to reclaim their spot at the top of the mountain. They are only one year removed from their last Super Bowl appearance, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 game.
