There’s no doubt that Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh is all in on Cam Ward. He’s banking on the potential showing through. And Ward will have a Caleb Williams-esque Year 2 breakout. Also, here are two other bold Titans predictions for the 2026 NFL season.

The Titans have been in a drought of fielding a playoff-competitive team. This year could be different if all of these things fall into place.

Titans QB Cam Ward will cut loose in 2026

In his rookie season, Ward completed only 59.8% of his passes. He threw for over 3,000 yards, but had just 15 TD tosses and threw seven interceptions.

This year, look for Ward to push into the 4,000-yard range with close to 25 touchdowns. The interceptions may reach double figures, but it will be because Ward and the Titans will be more aggressive on offense and take more chances.

Saleh said Ward is going to surprise a lot of so-called NFL experts, according to ESPN.

“This kid’s not going to fail,” Saleh said Sunday. “Obviously, I put my job on that one, but he’s not going to fail. He’s special.”

Ward said practices have been different this year. And that has helped him grow.

“During practice we’re doing more game stuff that we do in a real football game,” Ward said. “It’s a lot of stuff that we don’t want to put on tape by showing in the preseason game. So practice is more of getting better at the stuff we know we’re going to do come Week 1, Week 2, and Week 3. It’s a difference when you know the certain types of plays that we’re putting in each week.”

Also on Ward’s side is offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

“I have a lot of confidence in this young man,” Daboll said. “I have confidence in how he played [in college] at Miami and Washington State. And he had a whole year under his belt in the National Football League and getting accustomed to the speed of the game and the timing. That’s not an easy thing for quarterbacks.

“With Cam, his job is to lead the offense and make good decisions with the football. To get us out of bad plays if we don’t have the right look, to make the right decisions on a play-by-play basis. “I think Cam has really grasped what we want to do, and we just got to continue to build and work on the execution part of it.”

And Ward said the game is manageable now.

“Everything slowed down,” Ward said. “We’re finally at the point where we’re not going to be installing too much stuff.”

RB Tony Pollard will get a fifth straight 1,000-yard season

Yes, the Titans are going to throw more in 2026. But Pollard is still going to get his carries. And with more of a threat from Ward, look for Pollard to be more efficient.

He hasn’t been a touchdown machine with the Titans, scoring only 10 over two seasons. But look for him to get into the 7-8 range this year as defenses will be more fearful of Ward inside the 5-yard line.

The Titans didn’t get a chance to select Jeremiyah Love in the draft. But the fact that people were speaking that direction out loud has added motivation for Pollard, according to golong.com.

“It all put me back into the prime spot to feel like I’m the underdog,” Pollard says. “I’m easily overlooked. So it’s easy for me to get up and get going. It’s easy for me to grind and give my all every day because I know they might not be expecting that from me. Or they may be surprised by the things that I’m doing. I look at it as motivation.

“Being confident in yourself, knowing that you’re the best at what you do. And even if you may be overlooked, your time will come. Keep chipping wood.”

WR Carell Tate will finish in the top three of Rookie of the Year voting

The thing that will decide his place in the voting will be targets. Those may be slow to come in the first month of the season. But they will gradually grow. If he gets enough targets, Tate will be the rookie of the year.

There’s no doubt Tate is ready to make a leap in his first year, according to ESPN.

“Arguably the most pro-ready receiver in this year’s class, Tate has lit up training camp, demonstrating electric chemistry with Cam Ward and regularly making highlight-worthy grabs,” Liz Loza wrote in mid-August. “A fluid route runner who can stretch the field and regularly win in contested situations, Tate wowed Buckeyes fans with his ball-tracking skills.”

The one thing that could derail this is the lack of preseason connection between Ward and Tate. But that will be ignited when the games count for real. Tate possesses too much talent for Ward not to find him often. Quarterbacks love open receivers.
