Buccaneers get big practice updates on 3 key players
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are officially less than a week away from kicking off their 2026 season. The Buccaneers have had somewhat of a tumultuous training camp and preseason, headlined by contract disputes and injury concerns, as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
On Monday, the team got a key update on some players who have been dealing with various injuries.
“Bucs WRs Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan, T Justin Skule are practicing today. Did not see RB Sean Tucker working,” reported Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times on X, formerly Twitter.
It’s certainly a (mostly) positive update as Tampa Bay prepares for the new season. Egbuka was known to have been dealing with a toe injury throughout the preseason slate, but it seems that he is on all systems go ahead of the new season.
Egbuka is expected to be the Buccaneers’ new number one wide receiver this year after the team watched franchise legend Mike Evans depart for the San Francisco 49ers this offseason. The former Ohio State star had a strong start to his rookie season last year before fizzling out down the stretch, but if he can stay healthy, he has all the tools at his disposal to take another leap this year.
Meanwhile, Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is entering a “prove it” year to demonstrate that he is worthy of a new long-term deal after he and the Buccaneers could not come to terms on a contract extension prior to the start of the season.
In any case, the Buccaneers are slated to kick off their new campaign on Sunday with a road game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
