Bucks assistant GM brings up trading No. 10 pick unprompted in interview
Milt Newton openly acknowledged that the Milwaukee Bucks could explore trading the No. 10 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft as the organization navigates a pivotal offseason.
During a recent appearance on 620 WTMJ, the Bucks assistant general manager discussed the value of the selection and unexpectedly raised the possibility of using the pick in a trade package to acquire a more established player.
“It’s significant because first of all at the 10th pick, it’s a very deep draft with talents,” Newton said. “I want to say inside of the top 20 but we can also use the 10th pick in other ways. Just more than picking, selecting the pick.”
Newton continued by emphasizing that Milwaukee views the selection as a major asset regardless of whether the team ultimately keeps it.
“So, we’re going to get a very good pick at No.10, but we also have a very good asset we can use to package it, if we choose to do something like that to get a more mature player if that’s something that is available to us,” Newton said.
The comments arrive during an important offseason for Milwaukee following a disappointing season that ended without a playoff appearance. The organization has already undergone significant changes, including hiring Taylor Jenkins as head coach after moving on from Doc Rivers.

Bucks explore multiple paths with No. 10 pick amid Giannis uncertainty
The Bucks are also facing continued uncertainty surrounding the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has remained at the center of trade speculation entering the summer.
NBA analyst Justin Wills later highlighted several notable details from Newton’s interview in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. According to Wills, Newton specifically mentioned the strength of guards and small forwards projected to be available around the No. 10 range.
Wills also noted that Milwaukee’s front office wants any rookie selected to contribute immediately if the team keeps the pick, reinforcing the franchise’s apparent desire to remain competitive in the short term.
Additionally, Wills shared that prospect Bogoljub Marković is expected to participate in Summer League again, though a final decision has not been made regarding whether he will remain with the organization or return to Serbia for another season.
With the draft approaching, Newton’s comments suggest Milwaukee is keeping multiple pathways open as it attempts to balance long-term flexibility with immediate roster improvement.
