Athletics’ Jacob Wilson dealt brutal injury update after Tyler Soderstrom news

The Athletics have endured a difficult season and things may get even worse soon. Shortstop Jacob Wilson is expected to land on the injured list and his season may be over, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Wilson dealt with injury trouble earlier in the year and now a shoulder injury may end his season early.

“Hearing Jacob Wilson will be placed on the IL and is heading back to Sacramento to see a doctor for his left shoulder. His season is likely over,” Gallegos reported Thursday.

The update comes not long after it was revealed that outfielder Tyler Soderstrom is expected to undergo season-ending hip surgery. Injuries have certainly played a role in the Athletics’ overall difficult campaign.

Wilson, a 2025 All-Star, has appeared in just 80 games this season. The infielder has hit .266/.298/.388 while on the field. His performance has declined from a season ago, but finding consistency while being in and out of the lineup due to injuries can make it challenging for a player to find his rhythm.
