Arkansas football getting safety back following court ruling

The Arkansas football team is looking for success in 2026, under new head coach Ryan Silverfield. Silverfield is getting some good news, after it was announced his secondary is getting some more depth.

“Arkansas defensive back Caleb Wooden officially back with the Razorbacks for a 5th year of eligibility following recent Colorado court ruling,” On3’s Pete Nakos posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Wooden played a major role for the Arkansas defense during the 2025 campaign.

“Posted 59 tackles and 3 TFLs last season,” Nakos added.

Silverfield takes over an Arkansas program that has struggled in recent years. The Razorbacks fired coach Sam Pittman after a tough start to the 2025 season.

Silverfield had great success at his last stop, Memphis. He is excited to get things started with the Razorbacks this season.

“Some good things, and some things that need to be improved,” Silverfield said of his team during summer practices, per Whole Hog Sports. “…..I think the effort is there.”

During SEC Media Days this summer, the new Arkansas head coach outlined his vision.

“Ultimately, we’re going to be judged by our wins and losses. We understand that. We want to see our guys go out there and play harder than they have ever before. We can judge by the effort we’re playing with in between the white lines. When you watch us, are we playing more disciplined than the Razorbacks of the past have played? Are we taking care of the football? Are we winning those close games? Are we finding ways to play better at home?,” Silverfield said, per SEC Sports.

The Razorbacks have big expectations for Silverfield.

“It became clear during our conversations that Coach Silverfield shares our vision of making the College Football Playoffs and competing for a national championship,” Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek said in part in a statement, after the hire.

Arkansas football kicks off the 2026 season against North Alabama. That game is scheduled for September 5.
