Jamal Musiala confirms medical condition diagnosis after collapsing on pitch for second time
Jamal Musiala has been diagnosed with temporary episodes of absence caused by neurological dysfunction after collapsing for the second time in a week.
The Bayern Munich midfielder went down off the ball in Tuesday’s 4-2 friendly victory over Heidenheim.

Musiala had only been on the pitch for six minutes when the incident occurred.
His fall quickly sparked alarm with Bayern’s medical team quickly rushing to the player’s aid.
Musiala’s teammates crowded around the 23-year-old as he received treatment.
The Germany international was able to rise to his feet and walk off the pitch, even breaking out into a brief jog before being substituted.
It comes just three days after Musiala collapsed during Bayern’s 3-1 win over RB Leipzig on Saturday.
He missed the team presentation on Monday after an individual training session.
Therefore his involvement against Heidenheim so soon after Saturday’s collapse could be viewed as a surprise.
The latest incident will undoubtedly raise concerns over the player’s health ahead of this weekend’s German Super Cup clash against Borussia Dortmund.
Musiala opens up on his health diagnosis
Following the match, Musiala took to Instagram to reassure fans his condition won’t have any lasting effects on his health and career once treated.
“First things first – I’m doing well! Above all, I’m incredibly grateful for all your messages and your support!,” he wrote.

“I understand that many of you are worried. I want to put those concerns to rest today and explain a little more: I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary episodes of absence that are easily treatable and are caused by a neurological dysfunction.
“These can lead to the moments that have occurred recently, such as against Leipzig and now in Heidenheim.
“I know that they may seem scary at first glance – but for me, they are currently simply part of my everyday life.
“I am receiving the best possible medical care in this regard, and I am very optimistic. FC Bayern and the people closest to me are always by my side and supporting me on this journey.”
He continued: “What is important is that there is no additional health risk beyond this. In close consultation and regular communication with the specialists, it was my personal wish to face this challenge and, with the approval of the neurological specialists, to continue doing what helps me most in my recovery: simply living my everyday life and continuing to pursue my passion of playing football.
“I have taken responsibility for that decision. Overall, I have a very good feeling and I am on a good path.

“What helps me most along the way is continuing to chase victories and titles with my team, with your incredible support. I hope this helps you understand me better.
“At the same time, I ask for your understanding that I would like to continue keeping this matter within the circle of my closest confidants, the club and the experts.”
Bayern complete their pre-season preparations in style
Vincent Kompany‘s side continued their impressive pre-season form in Tuesday’s 4-2 win.
Goals from Filipe Chavez and Arijon Ibrahimovic drew Bayern level before Kompany’s side showed their superiority.
Luis Diaz and summer signing Nathaniel Brown added two late goals to see off their opponents.
The win sets Bayern up perfectly for Saturday’s first shot at silverware against their Der Klassiker rivals Dortmund.

After that, Bayern launch their Bundesliga campaign against VfB Stuttgart on Friday, August 28 as they search for a third consecutive title.
Assessing his side’s goals ahead of the new season, Kompany was clear in terms of his expectations.
“The goals with FC Bayern are always the highest – winning the Bundesliga, winning the Pokal (German Cup) winning the Champions League and maybe even winning every game.
“We’ll definitely be trying to achieve that.”
