Michael Jordan’s Last Dance NBA Finals jersey from 42-point rout could break $24 million record

The power of Michael Jordan remains as strong as ever, two-plus decades after he stepped on the floor. Virtually anything the man does is poised to make tons of money.

On Tuesday, a coveted jersey Jordan wore is up for auction, per Benjamin Burrows of The Athletic. It is the jersey he wore during Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals. It’s also poised to break a record.

The jersey will be up for auction this fall through auction house Joopiter. In 2024, Babe Ruth’s 1932 jersey worn during the “called shot” game sold for a record $24.12 million. Jordan’s Game 3 jersey is poised to surpass that.

In Game 3, the Bulls defeated the Utah Jazz 96-54, the biggest rout in NBA Finals history. The Bulls eventually defeated the Jazz in six games. They won their sixth title in eight years, capping off one of the greatest dynasties in sports history.

In many ways, the Bulls’ nostalgia still draws fans to the franchise.

To this day, the “Last Dance” era captures the hearts and minds of sports fans young and old, especially those in the memorabilia world.

“The Last Dance’ represents really one of the defining chapters in the history of all sports, not just basketball,” Caitlin Donovan, Joopiter’s global head of sales, told The Athletic. “It’s really more than just the conclusion of (Jordan’s) career with the Bulls, it really marked the culmination of one of the greatest dynasties that I feel was ever assembled.”

Musician Pharrell Williams founded Joopiter in 2022. They had previously sold Jordan items.
