Ex-player’s bold Pete Crow-Armstrong MVP take will upset Dodgers fans

The Chicago Cubs got an incredible win on Monday over the Chicago White Sox. Cubs slugger Pete Crow-Armstrong hit two home runs, including a walk-off blast to win the contest. Crow-Armstrong is getting praised by a former Major League Baseball player.

“Without Shohei Ohtani pitching right now, PCA is my MVP,” Kevin Pillar said, per Foul Territory.

Crow-Armstrong put himself in Major League Baseball record books, after his performance on Monday.

“With 30 home runs and 31 steals on his ledger, Crow-Armstrong became the first Cubs player in team history to go 30-30 in consecutive seasons. He is the 10th player to do it in MLB history, joining José Ramírez (2024-25), Bobby Witt Jr. (‘23-24), Ryan Braun (‘11-12), Alfonso Soriano (‘05-06, ‘02-03), Vladimir Guerrero (‘01-02), Barry Bonds (1995-97), Ron Gant (‘90-91), Bobby Bonds (‘77-78), and Willie Mays (‘56-57),” MLB.com reported.

Crow-Armstrong is pleasing his teammates and coaches with this incredible play. He hit both a leadoff home run on Monday, as well as the walk-off to win it.

“It’s been incredible to watch,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said.

Many feel that Crow-Armstrong will be the National League MVP. Another strong candidate is Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, who has been both hitter and starting pitcher this season. Ohtani hasn’t pitched for weeks though due to a knee problem.

Ohtani has his supporters though. They include USA Today columnist Bob Nightengale, who believes that Ohtani should win MVP if he is able to pitch again before the end of the season. Los Angeles believes that Ohtani can return to the mound in September.

The Cubs are second in the National League Central, with a 73-53 record. Los Angeles meanwhile leads the National League West. Fans are certainly excited to see what happens with Ohtani and Crow-Armstrong, as the season winds down.

Chicago is in action again Tuesday against the White Sox.
