Allen Iverson reps Flyers’ Orange and Black at 76ers-Knicks

Former Philadelphia 76ers star Allen Iverson is giving some love to another professional sports team from that city. Iverson donned Flyers colors during Game 3 of the 76ers-New York Knicks series on Friday.

Iverson was featured on the Jumbotron and waved to the crowd while wearing Orange and Black.

Iverson spent several years playing for the 76ers, and was in attendance to watch his old team try to defeat the Knicks. Philadelphia ended up losing to the Knicks on Friday, to go down 3-0 in that NBA Playoffs series.

The Flyers meanwhile are also in a 3-0 hole, against the Carolina Hurricanes. Carolina and the Flyers take to the ice in Game 4 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs series on Saturday evening. Philadelphia will be eliminated if they don’t win Saturday.

The Flyers have had an emotional run in this year’s playoffs. Philadelphia built a 3-0 lead in their first round series against their in-state rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers then lost two in a row, before beating Pittsburgh in an emotional Game 6.

That momentum hasn’t been able to carry over into this series against Carolina. The Hurricanes bullied Philadelphia in Game 1, before winning again in a closer Game 2. In Game 3 the Hurricanes whipped Philly 4-1, pushing the team to the brink of elimination.

“We’ve been dead before and we’ve climbed out of it,” Flyers coach Rick Tocchet said Friday, per NHL.com. “We’ve played a lot of playoff games the last two, three months, and now we’re in a situation where it’s a must-win. It’s a do-or-die game.

“How do you go into this game making these guys play relaxed. … Can we be more determined tomorrow night? Yeah, I think we can.”

Time will tell if the Flyers can keep the series going. Iverson will surely be cheering on the team.
