Stacey King’s cause of death revealed 2 months after untimely passing
It’s been two months since Chicago Bulls legend Stacey King unexpectedly passed away at 59. This left many fans, young and old, heartbroken.
Now, the cause of death has been released this week, per Edward Lewis of The California Post. A spokesperson from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office stated that the cause of death was due to hypertensive cardiovascular disease, a heart condition prolonged by untreated high blood pressure.
Additionally, obesity was a contributing factor.
On June 7, King was found dead in his Chicago home, around the time he was expected to go on vacation.
King is one of the most beloved members of the Bulls family. He played from 1989 to 1994, a part of the first 3-peat title teams from 1991 to 1993. He was then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1994 in exchange for Luc Longley.
King went on to play for the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and Boston Celtics before closing his NBA career in 1997.
In 2004, King began a 19-year career as a popular broadcaster for the Bulls.
He took on the role of analyst and color commentator while straddling the two roles of professional and fan. Along the way, King became known for his signature catchphrases.
Among them are: “Gimme the Hot Sauce”, “Too big, too strong, too fast, too good”, and “I’m coming, Elizabeth!” in homage to Sanford and Son.
After his passing, numerous Chicago luminaries poured out tributes. Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Derrick Rose, Frank Thomas, and others were among them.
King is survived by his four sons.
