Fresh off winning the franchise’s first NBA championship since 1973, the New York Knicks held their parade through the city’s streets on Thursday morning. One of the parade floats featured Knicks star forward Karl-Anthony Towns and NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani dancing to an iconic Fat Joe song.

Fat Joe, a Bronx native, has been a long time Knicks fan often appearing courtside, and even participated in media sessions during the NBA Finals. So it just seems right that his music would be featured during the Knicks’ championship parade festivities.
As for Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks do not win the title, let alone make it to the NBA Finals, without his impact. Towns is coming off his second season with the team after being traded in a shocking blockbuster with the Minnesota Timberwolves right before the start of the 2024-25 season.
The six-time All-Star was an early contender for the Finals MVP until Jalen Brunson’s clutch performances and 45-point explosion in the closeout Game 5 sealed the deal.
During the Knicks’ playoff run, Towns averaged 15.9 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocked shots with splits of 55.1 percent shooting from the field, 45.6 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 90.9 percent shooting from the free-throw line. All of his shooting percentages were playoff career-highs.
In the regular season, Towns appeared in 75 games at just about 30 minutes per game. He averaged 20.1 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists with splits of 50.1 percent shooting from the field, 36.8 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 85.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
The former No. 1 overall pick was named to his sixth All-Star selection this season, including his third consecutive.
