Mavericks ink Naji Marshall to $52.2 million contract extension

Clutchpoints NBA insider Brett Siegel has learned that the Dallas Mavericks are going to be able to keep a key player on the roster for years to come. The Mavericks reached a $52.2 million extension with forward Naji Marshall, it was announced on Sunday.

“The fully guaranteed deal takes Marshall through the 2029-30 season in Dallas,” ESPN’s Shams Charania posted to X.

Marshall averaged a little more than 15 points per game for Dallas during this past season. He shot 51 percent from the field, while also grabbing close to five rebounds per game.

The forward has spent the last few seasons in Dallas, after playing for several years with the New Orleans Pelicans before that. In his NBA career, Marshall is averaging 10 points per game.

“Naji has earned this opportunity through the way he approaches the game every day,” Mavericks president Masai Ujiri said in a statement, per The Dallas Morning News. “He is a competitive player who impacts winning in a variety of ways. His versatility, toughness and willingness to embrace every challenge make him an important part of what we’re building.”

During this past NBA season, Marshall started a career-high 47 games. He appeared in 74 contests for Dallas. Marshall also saw a career-high in minutes played, as he averaged 29.5 minutes per game on the floor.

Dallas is a team going through a rebuild, following the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers some time ago. The Mavericks are anchored by young star Cooper Flagg, who has praised Marshall in the past.

The Mavericks missed the NBA Playoffs this past season. Dallas finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 26-56 record.
