Ramos has not shared a clubhouse with Schlittler for very long — arrived at the trade deadline from the San Francisco Giants — but he has quickly grasped what makes this young right-hander so lethal. The 2022 seventh-round draft pick wields considerable velocity, but he knows how to control it. He also embraces the moment.

Although there is not much pressure surrounding a home game against the last-place Rockies, Cam Schlittler still embodies what it means to be an ace, and he is doing so in his first full MLB season. After dropping two out of three to the San Diego Padres, the Yankees required a momentum-changing performance in The Bronx. No. 31 obliged.
