Wings clinch WNBA playoff spot with win over Fire
Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings are going dancing in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs. The Wings secured a ticket to the postseason following a 96-78 trampling of the visiting Portland Fire at College Park Center in Arlington.
The mission is always to win the WNBA championship, but while there’s still a long way to go for the Wings to achieve that, they are rightfully celebrating their return to the playoffs. They missed the boat to the postseason in the previous two seasons, and this time, WNBA fans will get to see what Bueckers can do when the stakes are higher.

The Wings’ offense was simply too much to handle for Portland. All Dallas starters finished the game with at least 10 points, led by Bueckers, who dropped 22 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field while adding 11 assists and two steals in 33 minutes of action. Jessica Shepard and Arike Ogunbowale chipped in 21 and 17 points, respectively, while Awak Kuier scored 12 points. Alanna Smith put up 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting.
Dallas can still improve its position in the standings, with five more regular-season games remaining on the Wings’ schedule.
With that Wings victory over Portland, the WNBA playoff cast is also already complete. The Minnesota Lynx, Golden State Valkyries, Las Vegas Aces, Atlanta Dream, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty and Washington Mystics are the other seven teams that will be mixing it up in the postseason. Meanwhile,m the Fire, Chicago Sky, Phoenix Mercury, Los Angeles Sparks, Toronto Tempo, Connecticut Sun and Seattle Storm are all going to have an early vacation.
