Will Golden Knights get the 2nd round pick John Tortorella lost them back?
After they blew off the media during their 2nd round series with the Anaheim Ducks, the Vegas Golden Knights lost their 2nd round pick for the 2026 NHL Draft. With the draft hours away, there have been questions about whether they can get it back after John Tortorella cost them that pick. The community has its answer, according to NHL insider Chris Johnston.
“With the NHL Draft upon us, hearing there’s been no change of heart on the Vegas Golden Knights relinquishing their second-round pick for “flagrant violations” of the league’s playoff media regulations. So, the No. 63 pick will remain forfeited tomorrow,” Johnston wrote on X.
With the Golden Knights expecting to retain talent, they will likely have to go the free agency or trade route. Ultimately, the draft won’t serve as much help this season. But with the Golden Knights hiring Ryan Craig as their head coach, they will still expect to contend, especially considering they have a coach who is homegrown throughout their organization.
The Golden Knights’ hiring of Tortorella shocked the world, considering the regular season was almost over. Yet, it worked out, for a little while. Vegas overcame the Utah Mammoth in the First Round. Then, they defeated the Ducks in the Second Round. When everyone expected them to fall to the Colorado Avalanche, they shocked the world and swept them. It was not until they met the Carolina Hurricanes that they faltered. And that was even after taking a 2-1 series lead in the Stanley Cup.
With the Knights having no second-round pick, it will not be evident for a while in how this affects them. For now, they will be limited and will have to adjust accordingly.
