Why Colin Cowherd isn’t completely buying Cowboys Super Bowl hype

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t made the Super Bowl in decades, and team owner Jerry Jones wants that to change this year. Some analysts aren’t buying into the Cowboys just yet. That includes the famed sports commentator Colin Cowherd.

“They were 7-9-1 last year and awful against playoff teams… Don’t convince yourself that average meal you ate at the restaurant was great because it’s better than what you cook at home,” Cowherd said on his show, The Herd with Colin Cowherd.

The Cowboys famously haven’t won the Super Bowl in more than 30 years. Dallas has made the NFL Playoffs many times since then, but always come up short.

During the 2025 season, Dallas missed the NFL Playoffs.

Cowboys have some new weapons heading into 2026

One young Dallas player that is standing out this summer is wide receiver Camden Brown. Brown has been praised by former Cowboys wideout Dez Bryant. Brown is making his mark this summer, even though he was an undrafted player.

“Shoot, I just feel like I’m making the best of the opportunity whenever it comes my way,” Brown said, per the team. “I’m blessed to even say I’m in his locker room with a bunch of vets that’s done it big. I feel like practice was really good, and that’s just where it started. I start it from practice, and that’s the preparation piece of it. So when I come out here, it slows down for me.

“I feel like just stacking a week on top of a week, that’s how I can make this team and keep doing what I got to do. So really, that’s really what it is, for real.”

Brown is working hard to make the team’s Week 1 roster. He has made some spectacular catches during preseason games. He caught two touchdown passes in a preseason victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

The Cowboys play their final NFL preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. That contest is scheduled for Friday.
