When will Eric Lauer make first Dodgers start after trade?

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a massive pre-MLB Trade Deadline splash in landing Eric Lauer. LA landed him via the Toronto Blue Jays back on Sunday. But when will manager Dave Roberts throw in the 2025 American League champion on the mound?

Lauer arrives to the back-to-back champs as a “discarded” talent. He suddenly became lost in a deep lineup of pitchers for the Blue Jays. Lauer himself even shared some strong words for his former employer.

“If they used me how they should’ve, I would’ve been the best starter in baseball. It’s as simple as that,” Lauer told reporters when addressing his exit on Thursday.

The Dodgers and Roberts opted to elevate Lauer into the lineup two days after the trade got complete. Right-handed pitcher Wyatt Mills became optioned in the process.

With LA resting Lauer until Tuesday, he’ll throw heat against the Colorado Rockies. And Lauer will hear the roar of Dodgers Blue, as that post Memorial Day contest will be played inside Chavez Ravine. It’ll mark the first time Lauer steps inside Dodgers Stadium since Aug. 8 of last season, which became a 5-4 Blue Jays win. He struck out four Dodgers batters but surrendered three runs and allowed two home runs.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers. But they won’t have Max Muncy, who took a hit on the wrist by a pitch early on Friday and will sit the Saturday outing.
