US prospect, 20, continues KO record with one-round demolition on Rolly Romero vs Teofimo Lopez bill
Unbeaten American talent Marco Romero continues his imperious KO record on the Rolly Romero vs Teofimo Lopez prelims.
Romero, a 20-year-old middleweight prospect, was hoping to continue his formidable record of not seeing the final bell.

He would take on fellow native compatriot Khalil Mitchell on the early card inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the big card.
Mitchell was expected to provide the rising KO artist with a level of resistance, as he looked to test him and provide him with rounds.
But it was yet another blow out for the young talent, who once again proved he had very little interest in going the distance.
Romero KOs Mitchell in one round
From the very opening bell, Romero quickly stepped inside and tried to trade in the pocket.
He had no interest in letting his rival put any distance between the pair, and went for an overwhelming tactic.
With just over two minutes gone in the opening round, ‘El Tiburon’ upped the ante and pushed his rival towards the ropes.
He was unleashing some whipping combinations, with Mitchell getting clipped with booming blows.
A shot downstairs followed by two crushing pounds through the guard saw the referee step in and bring a halt to proceedings.
The referee quickly jumped in and stopped the bout before the end of the first round.
Mitchell nodded his head and was fine, being stopped on his feet, but knew he’d been in with a big puncher.
Romero quickly remarked in his post-fight interview: “I’m not getting paid for overtime.”
Of course now for the talented 160lber, he will need bigger and more formidable tests.
His handlers will look to move him slowly through the ranks, with his win not yet likely to be a big enough scalp to mix with the big names.
But after a stellar amateur career including National Titles and Golden Gloves pedigree, he is well placed to make a charge towards world level.
It was a busy night of action on the blockbuster bill, with controversy elsewhere.
Fans were later fuming on the bill, with Israel Mercado denied victory as he fell to a contentious split decision defeat against Carlos Utria.
