Daniel Jeremiah makes Deshaun Watson roster prediction after postgame comments
Following Deshaun Watson’s post-game comments after Cleveland’s 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills in preseason game one, an NFL analyst is making a bold prediction about his future. Watson was not happy with the boos he heard from the fans, despite a 5-for-12, 36-yard, one-interception performance in the game.

In post-game comments, Jackson responded to the jeers.
“I think the whole world knows it has nothing to do about the performance,” he said. “It’s a little bit more personal than that. So, I think it’s a disrespectful thing… Last time I played on this field, I tore my Achilles. That same fan base, they cheered when I got hurt,” he said. “What does that have to do with anything about performance? When a person gets hurt, especially in your home stadium, and they cheer.”
He added, “I thought being away for two years and working myself back from two Achilles injuries and putting the time in and being around the facility, being around the city, doing charity work in the city, supporting the Cleveland Browns, hanging out with fans whenever I do see them, being honest, being the type of person that I know I am and the character would help. And I guess it hasn’t. So that’s why I say it’s personal. So it is what it is. People have their own opinions. There’s only so much you can do to change that. So at the end of the day, I just have to continue to just work on it and strive to be better mentally moving forward.”
The post-game comments led NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah to make a bold prediction about Watson’s future with the Cleveland Browns.
“I don’t know how you come out of what you’ve seen from the performance and then marry up with just where he is right now mentally and emotionally and how he has a chance to win this job. That feels like, and he might even know it, that was almost a designed frustration, all kind of bubbling up to the surface there. I don’t see the path forward there. That interview, where he is right now, does not sound like someone who…I don’t really think want this job at this point in time, he wants a new opportunity somewhere else, is the vibe that I’m getting.”
Jeremiah then evaluates the roster moves that could spell disaster for Watson’s future with the organization.
“At the draft, when they took Dillon Gabriel, I thought Dillon Gabriel and my evaluation of him was going to be a backup in this league for 10+ years. He’s a great teammate, he’ll serve as the starting quarterback, and he’ll be comfortable in that role. Maybe they took him a little earlier than I thought they should, thinking he’s going to be a long-term backup, but they’re situated where he’s the number two, and you go with Shedeur Sanders. I just don’t see a home for Deshaun Watson there anymore.”
