Bills’ Joe Brady throws all of his support behind Ed Oliver after his son’s passing

The Buffalo Bills are doing what they can to support one of their own during an unbelievably devastating time for him and his family. Veteran defensive tackle Ed Oliver lost his 2-year-old son, also named Ed, to an accidental drowning in June. The tragic passing was leaked on Friday, prompting the organization to issue an official statement.

Superstar quarterback Josh Allen lamented the way in which everything was shared and expressed love for his teammate of seven seasons. Bills head coach Joe Brady offered his own heartfelt words.

“I can’t fathom what he’s going through,” he said after Buffalo’s preseason matchup versus the Cleveland Browns, per Syracuse.com’s Ryan Talbot. “There’s really not words to describe {such a tragedy} in those moments. As a coach, as a father, it’s my job to be what he needs from me right now, and that’s loving him and giving him the privacy that he deserves. No matter how someone might want to handle it, it’s whatever how he wants us to handle it and going through it.

“It’s unfortunate the way that it came out…. It’s hard. I see him, and I can’t imagine {how hard it is}. I haven’t had the words since, and I don’t really have the words {now}, but all I can do is be there for him in whatever way that he needs.”

Ed Oliver somehow managed to report to training camp and has been with the team during his time of mourning. He is currently nursing an injury and was not with the Bills for Saturday’s game in Cleveland.

All fans can do is keep the Oliver family and their loved ones in their prayers.
