Dodgers’ Dave Roberts sends encouraging message to Andy Pages after hand fracture

Andy Pages handed the Los Angeles Dodgers a scare Friday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Manager Dave Roberts and LA watched him clutch his hand, following getting a hit by a pitch.

Many fans and analysts created this thought: If Pages needs to be shut down amid his MLB Injury. Roberts, though, fired off this encouraging message toward Pages which he shared with reporters before Saturday’s contest.

“I don’t think it changes the timeline,” Roberts began. “Four weeks is the floor for him to be back. Like I told him in the x-ray room, the season’s not over for him.”

Dodger fans will welcome that news. Looks like Pages’ hand fracture won’t require surgery right away. He’ll likely wear something more protective moving forward.

Meanwhile LA pulled off some roster moves amid the injury. Alek Thomas enters the picture as the roster fill-in. Thomas earns the elevation from Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City. He’s a left-handed hitter who is averaging .296 including blasting seven home runs for the Comets. He’s driven 40 different runners home too in the minor leagues. He originally arrived to the league as a 2018 second round draft pick.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, aim to keep up in the National League standings after briefly losing ground with the league’s best record. The Milwaukee Brewers own the top as the first NL team to cross the 80-win mark. Los Angeles enters Saturday with a 78-51 record but remains nine games out in front in the division standings. The San Diego Padres trail with their 69-60 record.
