What WWE’s ‘happy’ reaction to polarizing recent celebrity appearances means for future cameos

WWE has always been synonymous with celebrity appearances. From the first-ever WWE WrestleMania show to the latest PLEs, celebrity appearances have often been a common part of the show. However, the recent influx of celebrity cameos since TKO’s takeover has worried the fans.

Concerns have been raised by wrestling enthusiasts regarding the increasing presence of celebrities like Travis Scott in WWE storylines, as seen at WrestleMania 41, and the recurring appearances of Pat McAfee, Jelly Roll, IShowSpeed, and Lil Yachty leading up to WrestleMania 42.

Now, according to a report from Fightful Select, the trend of featuring celebrities in storylines and angles is expected to continue.

The report noted that, while Fightful Select was informed about celebrity crossovers slowing down after WrestleMania season, there still seem to be plans to incorporate celebrities into WWE programming soon, possibly as early as 2026 summer. However, no specific names were mentioned regarding the appearances. NFL legend Tom Brady was also rumored to be a part of this year’s WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, but he did not appear.

It is also to be noted that there was speculation about a tag team match at Backlash 2026 featuring Jelly Roll and Cody Rhodes against Randy Orton and Pat McAfee. However, Dave Meltzer later reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that both Jelly Roll and McAfee opted out of the angle due to the unfavorable response to their involvement.

Rapper Sexxy Red has also appeared frequently on several NXT programs, while Lil Yachty is currently a regular act on Friday Night SmackDown with Trick Williams. IShowSpeed also appeared and wrestled at this year’s WWE WrestleMania 42.
