Lynx’s Olivia Miles experiences ‘Welcome to the W’ moment during Kelsey Mitchell’s huge first half
With the Minnesota Lynx taking on the Indiana Fever on Sunday afternoon, the first half was filled with standout performances on both teams. As Lynx rookie Olivia Miles had a monster first half, she would speak about the moment of being welcomed into the WNBA by Fever star Kelsey Mitchell.
Speaking at halftime to ESPN’s Holly Rowe, Miles was asked about playing against Indiana guard Caitlin Clark and the competition in the contest. Miles would mention how it is “so fun” playing against the league’s best guards, shouting out Mitchell, who had 23 points at halftime, saying guarding her has been her “Welcome to the W moment.”
“It’s so fun playing with great guards,” Miles said, via SportsCenter. “You know, Kelsey Mitchell is really the one that’s killing us right now. I’m just kind of in awe watching her. Like this is low-key my ‘Welcome to the W moment,’ just trying to guard her. But it’s so fun, you know. We have respect for each other, so it’s fun.”

How Lynx’s Olivia Miles, Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell finished the game
While defensively the Minnesota rookie mentioned her struggles in playing defense against Mitchell, her first half consisted of recording 23 points on shooting 10 of 12 from the field, three of five from beyond the arc, to go along with five assists. Consequently, with the Lynx finishing off the game with a win over the Fever on Sunday afternoon, 108-100, there were many standout performances.
Looking at the rookie in Miles, she would finish with 28 points, six assists, and four rebounds, as Mitchell would get up to 37 points on 14 of 21 shooting from the field, six of eight from three-point range. As for Clark, she would have 19 points on eight of 18 shooting from the field, two of nine from deep, with 10 assists.
Minnesota now is up to a 10-game winning streak, as the WNBA-best team regarding record (25-6) looks for 11 straight against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday.
