Blue Jays trade for struggling Jameson Taillon in deal with Cubs

With rumors surrounding the Toronto Blue Jays regarding the trade deadline on Monday, the team has made a deal for a pitcher, one who has been having a frustrating 2026. As it remains to be seen what else the Blue Jays do before Monday’s trade deadline, the team has made news Sunday by acquiring Jameson Taillon from the Chicago Cubs.

According to MLB insider Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Toronto has traded for Taillon, having been designated for assignment earlier in the week.

“The Blue Jays have acquired Jameson Taillon and cash considerations from the Cubs for a PTBNL or cash considerations. Taillon had been DFA’d by the Cubs earlier this week,” Feinsand wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

More information to come.
