What Lakers’ Bronny James said about LeBron’s future after Thunder sweep

The Los Angeles Lakers were swept 4-0 by the Oklahoma City Thunder as a result of their 115-110 loss in Game 4. However, LA, especially in the absence of Luka Doncic, will have their heads held high, which undoubtedly includes LeBron James, who was his team’s best player through the postseason even at the age of 41.

Still, the sweep may as well steamroll into a potential retirement, with James himself feigning cluelessness over what comes next in his career. At the same time, there aren’t many people better-placed than his teammate and son Bronny James to reveal what is on LeBron’s mind.

And well, Bronny seems to be just as confused as the rest of us, per ESPN.

“I have no clue. I’m not going to lie to you. He looks like he can play another however many years, but he’s been in league for longer than he’s been out of league. It’s insane. I think he should think about it, and whatever he feels happy with, do that,” he said.

According to The Athletic, league and team sources believe retirement is a “real possibility” for James entering the offseason, even after another highly productive year at age 41. Of course, this is not exactly how James would have envisioned his career to end.

The defeat completed a 4-0 sweep and marked only the fourth playoff sweep of James’ career across 302 postseason games. The Lakers superstar emphasized that he plans to step away, spend time with his family and evaluate everything before making a decision on whether he will return for a 24th NBA season, continue elsewhere, or retire altogether.

Considering his postseason run, James can once again be expected to have a range of suitors for his services. During the regular season, he averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds across 60 games while playing more than 33 minutes per night. He elevated his production again in the postseason, averaging 23.2 points, 7.3 assists and 6.7 rebounds over 10 playoff games against Houston and Oklahoma City.

As things stand, however, it appears as though LeBron is not close to making a decision, with further updates expected in the coming time.
