What Dodgers’ Alex Call said about his clutch hit vs. Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup is filled with plenty of superstars and former MVPs. But on Thursday, it was outfielder Alex Call who came up clutch.

With the Dodgers and Giants knotted at two, Call hit a pinch-hit two-run RBI. Los Angeles would go on to win 5-2. After the game, the outfielder credited his preparation for being ready when his name was called, via Fredo Cervantes of the Sporting Tribune.

“If you put the work in, you have a chance,” Call said. “All I can do is prepare and do the best that I can. At the end of the day, it’s in God’s hands.”

With the victory, the Dodgers split their four-game set with the Giants, winning the last two games. Los Angeles is now 26-18 on the season and hold a half game lead over the San Diego Padres in the NL West. The franchise’s eyes are firmly set on winning their third-straight World Series title.

Call is willing to do whatever it takes to help the Dodgers get closer to that goal. After Thursday’s performance, the outfielder is now hitting .310 with seven RBIs. Alongside his work at the dish, Call has played all three outfield positions in 2026. That versatility will be arguably his strongest trait for the Dodgers.

But if he is able to come off the bench and drive in runs, Los Angeles certainly isn’t complaining. Call knows he won’t get the headlines like many of his star teammates. But if he gets his opportunity, the outfielder stays ready.
