All it takes for Isaiah Thomas to show that he still has it is a basketball court and an opponent who is ready to challenge him. Recently, a video of Thomas went viral from Vancouver, Canada, where he was seen going up against young talents. Playing in the Ball Don’t Stop Pro-Am, the former Boston Celtics point guard scored 56 points.

Not only that, Thomas has been a loved name among the Canadian fans for years. Back in 2023, he even received an ovation from the fans when he arrived for the same Ball Don’t Stop Pro-Am. Playing against Payton Pitchard, Thomas then scored 26 points.

Started back in 2016, the Ball Don’t Stop Pro-Am is Canada’s summer basketball game that showcases a high-energy, high-competition atmosphere. Ballers from high schools, colleges, and top professional leagues from across different countries unite under one roof.

Thomas hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2023-24 season with the Phoenix Suns. As reported by Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, Thomas has taken up the role of pro and college scout for his former team, the Boston Celtics.

Thomas has been active since this year’s NBA Combine. He was actively engaged in helping the franchise scout and interview young talents during that time frame.

While an otherwise short stint with the franchise, Thomas had his best years in Boston. He earned two NBA All-Star nods while also making it to the All-NBA Second Team.

Thomas was also voted No. 5 in the NBA MVP voting for the 2016-17 season. Despite all the success, a hip injury derailed his career during the same year, and he could hardly bounce back as issues kept persisting.

Unlike Boston, Thomas did not get the kind of stability he had in his earlier years and juggled between five teams in the next five NBA seasons he played. Now in a different role, much of his life is still about the game he has loved so far.
