Warriors’ Stephen Curry passes Tim Duncan on all-time NBA list

Stephen Curry made NBA history that involved Tim Duncan following his performance in the Golden State Warriors’ matchup against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.

Curry is nearing the completion of Year 17 of his legendary NBA career with the Warriors. Even though injuries have limited his overall impact this season, his talent remains undeniable as one of the best in the entire league.

Going into Golden State’s game against Sacramento, Curry has scored 26,493 regular-season points throughout his career. This placed him at 23rd on the all-time scoring list, between Duncan’s 26,496 points and Paul Pierce’s 26,397 points.

Curry needed just three points to tie Duncan and four to surpass him, something he pulled off in the second half against Sacramento. He knocked down a 3-pointer from the top of the key to go up to 22nd on the all-time list, ending the night with 11 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field.

Despite Stephen Curry’s impressive feat, the Warriors faltered as they suffered a close road loss to the Kings.

Six players scored in double-digits for Golden State in the loss, including Curry. Brandin Podziemski led the team with a stat line of 30 points, three rebounds, one assist, and a steal. He shot 9-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. De’Anthony Melton came next with 17 points and four rebounds, Kristaps Porzingis had 11 points and seven rebounds, while Al Horford and Gary Payton II scored 10 points each.

Golden State fell to a 37-44 record on the season, having already secured the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings. They are above the New Orleans Pelicans and the Memphis Grizzlies while trailing the Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Warriors will look to bounce back in their regular season finale before preparing for the play-in tournament. They will be on the road to face the Clippers as tip-off will take place on April 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
